The expansion of Highway 417 from Eagleson Road to the Highway 7
interchange is being carried out under the requirements of the Class
Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000) for
Group “B” projects.
The public is encouraged to provide input at any point during this project.
To facilitate public involvement, a Public Involvement Centre (PIC) will be
held. It is anticipated that the PIC will be held in late Spring 2008. The PIC will provide residents, members of the
public and interest groups with an opportunity to review, comment on, and
discuss the project with members of the project team. The PIC will be an
‘open house’ format with representatives from the Ministry of Transportation
and McCormick Rankin Corporation in attendance to address any
questions regarding this project. A bilingual representative fluent in both
official languages will be present at the PIC.
As this project progresses, individual consultation will be held with the
relevant external agencies, municipal representatives, local community
groups and business representatives.
The environmental assessment documentation that must be prepared for
this project is a Design and Construction Report (DCR).
The DCR will document:
- Study objectives;
- Project-specific earlier and related work;
- All design alternatives considered;
- Design features;
- Associated environmental protection/mitigation measures
included in the contract package as related to that proposed in
the PDR;
- Consultation with external stakeholders and the public; and
- Further commitments to be addressed during construction.
Once completed, the DCR will be made available for a 30-day public
review period. There is no ‘bump-up’ opportunity (i.e. opportunity to make
a part II order) for this project. Interested persons are encouraged to review
this document and provide comments. Notification for the submission of
the DCR will be published in local newspapers and posted on this website.
Once complete, the DCR will also be posted on this website. Approval of
the DCR marks the final task in the Detail Design portion of the EA process.
All comments received, with the exception of personal information, will
become part of the public record.
